Damas, La Ville Cruelle is the second version of an artistic project developed in collaboration with Burhan Khatib. This work was presented as part of the « Matière sensible » exhibition at the Centre d'Art Bastille, during the 18th edition of the University Cultural Festival at the University of Grenoble Alpes. It evolved into an immersive performance, after its first presentation in 2022 as part of a research-creation workshop at the University of Rennes 2.
Lasting 20 minutes, this performance combines sound installations, visual elements, and performative aspects to explore the transformations of Damascus between 2011 and 2015. Through this work, we aim to question the effects of the conflict and the regime's repression on the city and its inhabitants, highlighting the notions of construction and destruction.
Damas, La Ville Cruelle 2 est la deuxième version d’un projet artistique développé en collaboration avec Burhan Khatib. Cette œuvre a été présentée dans le cadre de l'exposition « Matière sensible » au Centre d'Art Bastille, lors de la 18ème édition du Festival Culturel Universitaire à l’Université Grenoble Alpes. Elle a évolué pour devenir une performance immersive, après une première présentation en 2022 dans le cadre d'un atelier de recherche-création à l’Université Rennes 2.
D’une durée de 20 minutes, cette performance combine installations sonores, éléments visuels et performatifs pour explorer les transformations de Damas entre 2011 et 2015. À travers cette œuvre, nous cherchons à questionner les effets du conflit, et la répression de régime sur la ville et ses habitants, en mettant en lumière les notions de construction et de destruction
